Dr. Sebastien Gay, originally from France, studied at the prestigious ENSAE, Institute of Political Sciences, and Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris before coming to the United States in 2001 to pursue graduate work.

During his time in France, Dr. Gay led a management consulting firm and was a private management consultant on firm dispute resolution.

At the University of Chicago, Dr. Gay studied under Nobel Laureate Professor Gary Becker and focused his research efforts on econometrics, behavioral, health, and labor economics. The main focus of his research centered on the impact of default rules on economic behavior in regards to cadaveric organ donations.

Dr. Gay was an Econometrics lecturer at the College from 2003 to 2006 while a graduate student. After graduating in 2006, Dr. Gay relocated to San Francisco to work for Cornerstone Research, Inc., a litigation consulting firm, where he specialized in antitrust and intellectual property casework.

In 2007, Dr. Gay taught at Stanford University and began his behavioral economics research. He is presently at the University of Chicago, teaching at the College and continuing his research and consulting with his firm SGRC. Dr. Gay is on the Advisory Board of Talos Partner, a leader in private lending and portfolio hedging products.
